Sustainable cleaning practices
In February 2021, DTMF Group transitioned the fleet of cleaning buggies and street sweepers at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus to 100% electric vehicles. This shift eliminates exhaust emissions, helping the campus move towards a more sustainable future.
By using electric vehicles, DTMF Group has significantly reduced nitrogen oxide emissions, saving up to 608,000 mg annually. Each electric vehicle saves up to 80mg of nitrogen oxide per kilometre, compared to fossil-fuel-powered alternatives.
The move to electric also supports the University’s goal to lower on-campus emissions and provides a quieter, more efficient solution for daily operations. These vehicles can work during the day without disrupting learning activities, ensuring a cleaner, quieter, and more environmentally friendly campus.
Robot cleaners at The Brain Centre
DTMF Group is enhancing its services with innovative robotic technology, particularly in the Kenneth Myer Building (KMB) at Melbourne University. The use of robotic vacuums allows custodial staff to focus on higher-priority tasks, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction.
In addition to robotics, DTMF Group ensures high-quality cleaning in sensitive areas like laboratories with specialized equipment and training. The KMB's cleaning operations are supported by an integrated management system that connects with the University’s work order portal, ensuring seamless communication and compliance via tools like Slack and our online helpdesk.
